NEW: In an interesting development, a more informal official web site has been set up to bring breaking news on Goliath and other devlelopments in Yahoo Groups. Go to groups.yahoo.com/group/SFOG for all the details.

A site about the construction and some great shots of the main Promenade entry at New South Construction. And visit the folks at RCCA in College Park, Georgia, who brought you the Great American Scream Machine.

Six Flags Over Georgia discussion forums (including news, rumors and speculation about the park) can be found at the SFOG NET Message Boards.

Goliath construction is underway around the front gate plaza and in the USA section. Along with a web cam on the Six Flags web site, this site is following the construction.

Internet Resources If you are looking for information, statistics and other data about roller coasters check the Roller Coaster Data Base. And, for technical discussions about amusement rides and history you might want to check out Dave Althoff's site. There are also a number of other Six Flags Over Georgia fan sites out there and you can start looking by using Dogpile.

Vacation Planning If you're planning a trip or want to find out more information, visit The American Midway. This is an easy to navigate site that helps find parks and information about them, what's available, and even a little amusement park fun & trivia. There are also links to weather forecasts for parks around the USA. For Atlanta tourist information go to my links page.

Coaster Rankings The annual Internet Wooden Roller Coaster Poll gives a good listing of the best wooden coasters throughout the world. The Georgia Cyclone comes in the top 20, a very respectable performance when you ride the competition. There is also a companion steel coaster poll where the Mind Bender usually comes in with a good standing.

News Keep the roller coaster discussion going on the USENET with rec.roller-coaster and rec.parks.theme news groups. You can use Google to get there, too. A website that will keep you updated on news and alos has very popular forums is Coasterbuzz

Roller Coaster and Amusement Park History Adam Sandy's extensively researched and wonderfully written Amusement Park & History page has a section devoted to John Allen, creator of the magnificent Great American Scream Machine along with several other classic wooden roller coasters from the "golden age of roller coasters."

Gossip & Rumors Go to the ScreamScape web site's rumors pages for reports from around the world.

Humor One web site that is writen with a wink and tounge firmly in cheek to bring a smile is Absolutely Reliable News & Rumors, because their coaster and amusement park rumors aren't.

The end of Lakewood's GREYHOUNDGeorgia Coasters Another wooden roller coaster in Georgia is one of our favorites; the Cannon Ball at Lake Winnepesaukah. Their official web site is www.LakeWinnie.com.

Sadly another wooden coaster, the Greyhound at Atlanta's Lakewood Fairgrounds, met it's demise for the Burt Reynold's movie Smoky and the Bandit 2 (see picture at left). But you can ride the old Lakewood carousel when you go to Lake Winnie!

Now with a water park, wood coaster (the 90 foot tall, 3000 foot long Cheetah), a steel boomerang coaster, a suspended looping coaster, wild mouse, a rapids ride with a whirlpool and a lot of spinning rides visit Wild Adventures in Valdosta, Georga (almost to Florida on Interstate 75). This is an easy stop on your way from Macon, Georgia, to the Florida border and is usually a suprise to folks who stop by. Wild animals and wild rides combine to create a real entertaining experience in the middle of south Georgia. Just be prepared in the summer - it's hot and humid. But the park operates year-round (check the web site for hours and days as they go to a Thur/Fri/Sat/Sun schedule in the off-season).Cheetah at Wild Adventures

VisionLand is east of Birmingham, Alabama, and only 2 hours away from SFOG is an amazing roller coaster creation: Rampage, probably the greatest wooden roller coaster in the Southeastern US.
