SUGGESTED VISITING PLAN
I am highly indebted to the The
Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, by Bob Sehlinger,
Paperback, Published by MacMillan, (annual), and other books
in the "Unofficial Guide" series for inspiring this
format. I consider their 1- and 2-day touring plans a key to
success for thoroughly enjoying visits to these very popular
parks. I don't think my personal trips to Disneyland, Disney
World, or Universal Studios Florida would have been
as entertaining without the use of the Unofficial Guide's
touring plans.
Touring Six
Flags Over Georgia in a Day
The plan below follows a self-tested "battle
plan" that I personally use to avoid long lines (if possible),
now adjusted for Acrophobia, Deja'Vu & Superman-Ultimate
Flight. Simply put; start at the new rides, then go clockwise
hitting rides as you find them. You may want to consider using
the Flash Pass / Q-Bot system,
it can help you maximize your day, especially when it comes to
Deja'Vu which doesn't seem to like to operate reliably.
Note that this schedule has been adjusted
for the removal of the Great Gasp and Looping Starship
When Goliath opens my guess is that I will still recommend
riding Deja'Vu first, then heading up to Goliath, but most
recently Deja'Vu never opens with the park opeing.
If the crowds get too large and the lines
too long see a few shows or leave, returning around 4:30 PM (you
can get your parking ticket validated for one return the same
day). This plan somewhat short changes Bugs Bunny World
(which is only for kids shorter than 54"). Bugs Bunny attractions are listed elsewhere.
Remember that this reflects the author's personal opinions only
and your experience may be different.
- Arrive at the park at opening. Check the
ticket booth signs for any rides that are not operating. (Note
that only the rides that have been reported are listed and a
ride listed as closed may open later in the day.)
- If you have a Season Pass, and the park
is still offering it (this benefit is supposed to go away on
April 9) take advantage of the early hour ERT and ride GOLIATH.
Season Pass holders have been promised early riding opportunities
for at least the immediate future. I love the visuals of the
front seat, but every row is a winner - to the front is ejector
airtime, to the rear you float over and down every drop, and
in the middle rows it's just mild floaty air.
- If allowed, queue up for ACROPHOBIA
which handles fewer people per hour than the Cyclone or
Scorcher.
- If Acrophobia isn't open, queue
up for the GEORGIA CYCLONE and ride.
- If you arrive and the line's too long
at the Cyclone, proceed instead to wait at the foot of
the hill leading to the GEORGIA SCORCHER and ride it as
soon as possible.
- Ride whichever coaster you've chosen and
then proceed to the other.
- If you didn't get to ride it yet, and
it's open, go over to Acrophobia and take a ride.
- Now, if you haven't ridden it yet, ride
GOLIATH.
- Head back to Lickskillet and go towards
Ninja, but first ride the WHEELIE.
- Ride NINJA [back].
- Hopefully the initial rush is off of the
SUPERMAN-ULTIMATE FLIGHT queue and it's time to take a
ride.
- Make a reservation for Fearless Frees
Dare Devil Dive SKYCOASTER ($20-30/person).
- Ride the GREAT AMERICAN SCREAM MACHINE
[back].
- Go back to the left around the arcades
to ride the BUMPER CARS (closed for Fright Fest).
- Up the hill to the very top to ride the
RIVERVIEW CAROUSEL (don't miss this!) Also ride the HANSON
CARS, ROCKIN' TUG and UP, UP & AWAY (balloons)
if desired.
- Hopefully if you haven't gotten on it
yet, DEJA'VU will be open so take a ride.
- Go down the hill to ride either THUNDER
RIVER (a little wet) or SPLASHWATER FALLS (very wet)
(or both).
- If the Wild West Comedy Gunfight Show
is close to starting, stay to enjoy southern humor.
- Go up under the Lickskillet sign to ride
MONSTER PLANTATION.
- Head down the hill to ride WILE E COYOTE'S
CANYON BLASTER.
- Exiting the ACME factory, head through
and up the hill in Bugs Bunny World to take a ride the DAHLONEGA
MINE TRAIN [back - but every seat is lame].
- Now you can take another drop on ACROPHOBIA.
- If you didn't get a ride earlier, time
go queue up for the GEORGIA CYCLONE.
- Ride the SIX FLAGS RAILROAD from
the Marthasville station to Rabun Gap (next to the USA signs)
- Go into Gotham City and ride MINDBENDER
[front for ejection air time & a great view, but lots
of folks like the back's float over the drops]. Why have I waited
till now for Gotham City? Experience has shown that around 3-4PM
the lines thin greatly, especially on MindBender.
- Go to BATMAN THE RIDE. My seat
preference is the front, it's definitely worth waiting for, but
the back left is very good, too.Watch the queue and snake a second
ride if you're lucky.
- At this point you have ridden everything
so ride the SKY BUCKETS over the park so it's time to
see some shows, go shopping and experience Bugs Bunny World.
- After shows and shopping, if it was too
cold before to ride them, go ride the DEER PARK PLUNGE log
flume.
- After 6:00 PM re-ride anything you really
enjoyed. After sundown there are few lines on Thunder River,
Splashwater Falls and log flume (it may be 80 degrees
but there's no sun). Batman's line shortens at 4-5 PM
but significantly increases in the waning hours due to the "one
last ride" effect. Shorter lines can usually be found
for Mind Bender, Viper, Ninja, GASM & (sometimes)
Cyclone.
- If you have a very, very favorite ride
of the day and wish to ride again, be sure to be in line no later
than 30 minutes prior to the park's closing time. If there are
fireworks scheduled for the evening, be prepared to leave early
to get to the queue prior to the end of the fireworks show. Most
ride operators close their lines at the fireworks finale or 30
minutes prior to park closing.
THE COASTER-CRAZY VISITING PLAN
Often people have Season Passes from other
Six Flags parks and want to experience just the coasters. On good
days you can be done by noon (even with a few re-rides).
- Arrive and enter at least 60 minutes prior
to the posted park opening time. GOLIATH sometimes offers before-the-park-opens
riding for Season Pass holders (and if you are "coaster
crazy" you will probably have a Six Flags Season Pass).
Go ride the B&M giant - front for ejector air, back to float
down the drops, and middle for mild floaty air over the 6 camel
backs (a total of 30 seconds of airtime at the minimum). Morning
ERT for Season Pass holders is scheduled to end on April 9.
- The Georgia Cyclone, Georgia Scorcher
and quite possibly Acrophobia will be opened when the
gates open a half-hour before the posted opening time.
- If you enter early enough, turn right
for a quick ride on ACROPHOBIA. This assumes that it's
running - if not, go for a Scorcher and then Cyclone
ride and return. I know it's not a coaster, but trust me,
you'll want to ride it.
- With the last pre-opening minutes catch
the GEORGIA CYCLONE. (front row, last car) Note that you
can easily catch a ride on the Cyclone as you exit the
park and it's much better later in the day. When the park is
open, a full queue house means the line will be about 30 minutes
when running 2 trains.
- Either after your Cyclone ride
or entering the park, go to the left at the entrance Gazebo and
up the hill
- Ride the GEORGIA SCORCHER (front
row if uncrowded, next to last row if lines are long)
- Follow the path under the arbor towards
the Cartoon Network Superstore
- Bear right at the top of the hill and
go down next to Thunder River into the Lickskillet
section. Keep going on this path into Cotton States toward
Ninja. I go around the "back way" because the
crowds are lighter than if you go by the Mine Train - but lengthwise
it's pretty much equal walking from Scorcher's exit. Keep
Thunder River on your immediate left and you'll even take
a shortcut before the grist mill.
- Head down past Thunder River and up around Carousel Hill to get to Metropolis Park.
- SUPERMAN-ULTIMATE FLIGHT
[back for intense positive g's through the pretzel, front
for floater pops of airtime - but no seat is bad since there's
nothing in front of your face but air]
- Upon exiting Superman, it's easy
to get in line to ride the GREAT AMERICAN SCREAM MACHINE (back
car, middle row, but some really love the front for the view
and claim maximum airtime)
- It's time to take a ride on the black belt of roller coasters, NINJA. The front row of the rear car is best for avoiding some serious head and neck bangs from the harnesses.
- Now you have to go around "carousel
hill" to get back to the front of the park.
- Exit and stay to the left
as you continue through Cotton States going in front of the bumper
cars and over the train tracks towards Carousel Hill.
- Stay on the path, keeping Splashwater
Falls on your left.
- Cross over the bridge and go up towards
Monster Plantation & Bugs Bunny World
- Go into the fort and ride WILE E COYOTE'S
CANYON BLASTER
- Exit and continue up the hill either through
or around Bugs Bunny World, to get in line to ride the
DAHLONEGA MINE TRAIN (back row)
- Exit, turn left to go under the arbor
in front of the train station
- Remember that the Georgia Cylone's
queue house was for the original Hanson Car ride, so even
when it's completely full it's no longer than 45 minutes.
- Ride GEORGIA CYCLONE (front row,
back car)
- Go up the hill past the Scorcher
to get to Gotham City
- (You've waited this long because Batman's
line dies around mid-afternoon)
- If you missed it before, go ride GOLIATH on your way to Gotham City
- Ride MINDBENDER (front car, either
row for maximum popping airtime / back car for floating air down
the drops)
- Ride BATMAN THE RIDE (last row,
or front row if line is manageable)
