PARK POLICIES &
PROCEDURES
You can get your ticket at the park up to 1 hour prior to park opening, but with the Publix sales program you should buy the ticket at a Publix near you (see section on Tickets) With ticket in hand proceed directly to one of the turnstiles. Any admission media - ticket, season pass or voucher - can be taken to any turnstile as long as it has a bar code. You can enter the park to the gazebo area, allowing shopping and dining prior to park opening, and get in line for the Georgia Cyclone (not recommended - wait until later in the day). On the map you will be able to go to the right almost to the entrance to the Six Flags Railroad, and on the left you can go to the railroad overpass beyond the Georgia Scorcher entrance.
Metal detectors are used as you enter the park. If you have a hip-pack, back-pack, purse or other "storage system" you may be stopped by security and asked to display the contents. Neither glass containers nor alcoholic beverages of any kind are permitted (soft drinks in plastic containers are OK). Additionally, no weapons of any kind are permitted inside the park. Pocket knives or any other "unauthorized object" may be held for the day at Guest Relations, but a better solution is to leave such items either at home or in your vehicle.
Lockers are available via a floating rental system. Read about it here.
OPENING PROCEDURE
Again, in 2006 the park is promising improved guest services and rides running at capacity so what happens this year is anybody's guess. In the past the park did not open the gates early than opening time on most days. But, if the gates did open early (30 minutes prior to the scheduled time) this is how things went:
- If at all possible during the half hour prior to the official opening time the turnstiles should open to allow guests into the Promenade area where shops and restaurants will be open or even visit Guest Relations for a pre-ride height measurement for kids.
- During the first 30 minutes, along with shopping, only if the morning safety checks and tests go well, you can ride the Georgia Cyclone and the Georgia Scorcher.
- When the opening time arrives, the ropes at the Mine Train and USA "tunnel" are dropped.
- If crowds are thin, Gotham City may open 1 hour after the park, and Deja'Vu is always closed in the morning as it takes so long to do a maintenance check.
- The major water rides Thunder River & Splashwater Falls, are also closed for the first hour.
Fast Lane Virtual Queue System
Lines may become
a thing of the past, however you still have to wait. SFOG was
the first amusement park in the United States to implement an
electronic "virtual queue" technology. As you enter
the park you are given the opportunity to acquire a small, palm-sized
electronic device that has a small message display and hangs from
a lanyard. If you use Fast Lane the rental line may be
the longest line you actually have to wait in all day. Unlike
other virtual queue systems such as Disney's FastPass, Fast
Lane may not be available to all park guests and requires
an additional charge - however there should be enough devices
to permit all guests desiring one to rent one. More information
is available by clicking here
and also from the developer's
website.
CLOSING PROCEDURE
SFOG occasionally (but not regularly) closes the major queue lines 30 minutes prior to the park's closing time. Hopefully this is a practice that has been ended with 2006's focus on customer satisfaction. But, the early closings included Batman The Ride, Mind Bender, Ninja, Great American Scream Machine, Georgia Cyclone and the Georgia Scorcher. Again, this may not happen anymore but if there's a coaster you really want to ride one more time get in that line at least 30 minutes prior to closing. Blame Georgia's teenage drivers' laws as they cannot be driving after midnight.
PARK POLICIES
Smoking Now Permitted Only in Designated Areas
With the advent of the new Georgia Public Smoking Law, smoking is only permitted in designated areas as designated with a triangular sign. There is currently no map available, but there are several locations throughout the park which have ash cans, etc. available for your use. Smoking is never allowed inside Six Flags Over Georgia queues, shows or restaurants.
Inclement Weather
Some rides and shows may close temporarily during sever weather conditions. Most of these closures have to do with lightning, however Mind Bender can't run in the rain as the advancing tires loose their grip. As soon as conditions permit safe operations these rides and shows will re-open. Rarely the park will close completely for the day (usually when the park is very uncrowded) at which time a voucher is usually provided to permit one free adult admission during the current operating season, but the park has gotten quicker on the draw to close all the rides with the hint of lightning in the air.
Kennel
Pets are not allowed inside Six Flags (except on special charity occasions). A kennel is provided near the east toll plaza parking entrance. Pets cannot be left overnight and must have current vaccinations and registration tags. Water is provided, but not food. There is a minimal charge.
After many years, the gas station located at the northeast corner of the east parking lot has closed and will not reopen.
